NEW WATER SUPPLY
Why renew your water supply?
Water Flow is the volume of water coming out of a pipe/hose in a certain amount of time. Water pressure is the amount of force put on the water to make it move from one place to another. Your water company will maintain the water pressure at the mains at all times. But between your water meter and your house is your responsibility.
The problems can be varied. The pipe between meter and house is not big enough. It could be old galvanised iron or lead pipe. All of these result in the internal diameter being too small for your required output. Increasing the diameter, will increase the volume of water being able to travel down your supply, increasing your water flow.
Poor water flow can result in;
• Time loss, running a bath, filling a kettle etc
• Inefficient boiler output
• New non vented systems require a high water flow to work efficiently
• Poor garden hose power
• Water tank running dry
• Very weak Shower
An outdated Water Supply can be;
Picture 1.Galvanised Iron –
can fur up internally with rust, restricting the flow
Picture 2. Lead –
lead pipes generally have a very small internal diameter.
Picture 3. Black Plastic –
laid up until the mid 1980’s, can split and cause major leaks. Becoming more unreliable as time
By replacing your old water supply with correct size of Blue MDPE plastic can vastly improve the water flow to your property. Please see example below;
